Prejunctional and postjunctional factors in bronchial responsiveness

As the wall becomes thicker the number of folds diminishes and they fill with fluid. The mucosal folds and the lining fluid affect surface tension and hence airway compliance. A thicker airway wall, on the other hand, can be less compliant.
