Selecting the FEV1
Your reply |
A patient has produced 3 flow-volume curves. You propose to use FEV1 associated with the flow-volume curve with the most representative shape for assessing the patient’s ventilatory function. |
| The selection criterion that you use is very subjective. It may well be that the flow-volume curve you select is representatively shaped for that patient, who knows, but there is no guarantee that the associated FEV1 is representative of that individual, and reproducible. Official recommendations list requirements and selection criteria that are quite different from yours. Was each curve blown correctly? Carefully read each of the following chapters and then return to the first question. |
